COMPOST SALES...

At Highfield SF our composting consists of grass clippings, leaves, saw dust shavings and horse manure.  Turned and aged until the perfect soil- like texture is achieved.

A perfect compost is a soil-like material rich in nutrients and full of roughage which, when added to the garden, it improves soil structure and plant health. As compost breaks down in the soil, it provides the fertilizer nutrients of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium in forms that are readily available to plants. Unlike most inorganic fertilizers, compost functions as a slow-release store of nutrients, so that the nutrients are available as the plants require them instead of in one intense flush. Compost also provides a wide range of important micronutrients not found in commercial fertilizers.

During the composting process micro organisms are breaking down the raw material. As they do this, these critters are creating black gold.

Since the finished compost releases its nutrients at a slower rate pasture plants have the time to absorb more of the nutrients. The result is less nitrates slipping past the roots and sinking down (leaching) into your ground water. Compost is also less water soluble, so when the composted manure becomes wet it's less likely to turn to mud and rum off your property into ditches, creeks, or rivers.
